Photographing the Lesser Pied Kingfisher was in my wishlist for a quite long time, few years I can say. Not a rare bird to find in this part of the country but a difficult one to approach. It is a delight to watch when it is hovering over water and darting to catch the fish. Dagger like beak hardly misses its target.

Using car as a hide I photographed this one at the Kothappar lake, Thiruverumbur.
