Asian Koel
Most of the mornings or evenings I hear her (his) call. We all know Koel's call always demands our attention, though it is not addressed to us. No it is not exactly the call, but the silence in between the calls, I think. It makes us to look at the leafy branches it supposed to be hiding. Mostly invisible, tucked well in the branches, it calls for the attention of the lady koel, which appears rude and dull. The male that resembles like a crow except the prominent red eyes attracts poets, lovers and kids due to its longing, lone voice that drenched in solitude.
The Asian koel is a brood parasite and lays its eggs (one or two) in the nests of other birds like crows. Though it seems to be an act of cheating, it is part of life, for both koels and crows.
This koel was in the near by Murungai tree.
